Case Study Nr. 16

The Case Study Houses were experiments in American residential architecture sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine where architects where tasked to design and build inexpensive and efficient model homes for the United States residential housing boom caused by the end of World War II and the return of millions of soldiers. Pictures by Julius Shulman.

The Journal turns its attention to one of the houses, Case Study House nr. 16 Designed by Rodney Walker in Beverly Hills, California in 1947. Rodney Walker (1910-1986) was a mid-century American modern designer and builder. His speciality was residential architecture which he practiced in the Southern California area.

Sadly nr. 16 has since been demolished but the beauty lives on through the images of brilliant architectural photographer Julius Shulman.
